Or leave before you
October 6, 2024 · Poem 106 of 112
What if you got so good at lying
That they could just float out of you
And fly away and pop
Like bubbles from a children's toy.
What if you got so good
that no one could ever tell the difference
And you could get away with it,
Over and over again.
But know this:
The cost is steep.
When someones lies to your face
You'll feel it cut too deep to meet their
eyes.
Each lie you don't verbalize
Will remain trapped inside
Until it eats you alive.
And understand that
every person you deceived
Every person you hurt
Will eventually learn the truth
Or leave before you.
