One day, on a corner, waiting for the light to change,
March 12, 2025 · Poem 15 of 112
One day, on a corner, waiting for the light to change,
on a walk back home—
she'll look quickly back up at you,
a flash of wonder, an evanescent reincarnation
of everything beautiful that time confines
to mere memories, until, at last, that too is ripped from
your heart.
All it took was everything you loved and shared with her
—
the music, the poetry, the humor.
Eyes locked for a split second,
more beautiful than any painting,
because you know you will never—
but she might.
She will.
Forget.
