You're such a beautiful child
October 10, 2024 · Poem 102 of 112
One day you'll watch
From the back seat of the car
Your Dad grab your Mom's hair
And jerk her head so hard it snaps
Back against the headrest.
The image and the
screams a silent white noise
Trapped in your psyche.
You won't understand what you're seeing,
And you won't have anyone to ask for help
To understand.
And all you wanted to do
was go home and
Play blocks.
You build structures so intricate and magical
With no instructions, everything comes from inside of you.
And when you look up over your left shoulder
I am there, watching you
In awe
Of your brilliance, your limitless creativity—
You're such a beautiful child.
