As if you both knew
December 14, 2024 · Poem 29 of 112
You can't grasp what you'd most wish.
Tiny dust motes dancing and
shimmering
In the early morning light of the office—
A perfect angle, a perfect brightness
That you'd never seen before.
It only lasted a minute
Before life moved on.
Your child sat on your lap later that day,
And you held on so much more tightly,
As if you both knew what you had seen.
